Meet and assist at Colombo international airport by myself and transfer to the hotel at Negombo, which is only about half an hour's drive from the airport.

After Breakfast at the hotel, leave Negombo for Sigiriya.On the way we visit to Pinnawala Elephant orphanage and then proceed to dambulla.

Today is the cycling day: we try to discover the ancient city by foot cycles (cycles will be provided)
Visit the cultural monuments of the first capital founded in the 05th century BC. Here is found the largest number of ancient monuments of a great civilization of Sinhalese. Buddhism found its first home in Sri Lanka at Anuradhapura, and it thus contains some of Sri Lankan Buddhism's most sacred sites. The Sri Maha Bodhi tree in Anuradhapura, planted from a cutting from the original 'bo tree' under which the Buddha achieved enlightenment, continues to draw thousands of Buddhist pilgrims from around the world. Among the well preserved ruins are pillars of the brazen palace which once had nine stories, the image of the Samadi Buddha, the twin ponds, guard stones & moonstones.
There are renovated monuments such as Ruwanveliseya dagoba built in the 2nd century BC with its famous Elephant wall and Thuparama dageba built in the 3rd century B.C.

After breakfast proceed to Habarana –minneriya Eco Park where we can see wild elephants.
After visiting the Ecopark, travel south to Sigiriya. This rock fortress was built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century A.D. and was a royal citadel for more than 18 years. In a sheltered pocket, approached by a spiral stairway, are the famous frescoes. The summit of the rock, with an area of nearly one hectare was the site of the palace, the outer wall of which was built on the very brink of the precipice. The UNESCO - sponsored Central Cultural Fund has restored Sigiriya 5th century Water Gardens to their former glory.
Overnight stay at Dambulla.
Depart to Kandy in the morning en route stopping at the Dambulla cave monasteries. The Dambulla cave monasteries were born when the fleeing King Walagamba took refuge in these caves. Upon regaining the throne he built this monastery in memory of his days there. The 5 caves house 167 Buddha Statues and over 2100 square meters of Buddhist murals. We then proceed to Kandy via Matale which is generally considered the spice capital of Sri Lanka. Traveling onwards we stop at a spice garden in Matale where you can sample the many spices and be treated to an Ayurveda Massage.
Kandy was the last capital of Sri Lanka and was home to the last king of Sri Lanka Sri WickramaRajasingha. The most famous site is the Temple of the Tooth or the DaladaMaligawa.
Evening we visit Cultural show and temple of the tooth relic.

The next day we leave Kandy and proceed towards Nuwara Eliya .The drive to Nuwara Eliya is spectacular with mist covered mountains, lush tea estates and tea plucker. En route we visit a tea factory and are guided through the process of making tea. Travel onwards to Nuwara Eliya towards afternoon. You may spend the rest of the day at leisure or walk around and explore the town on your own. Situated at an altitude of 2040m this town with its characteristic British architecture and climate is very popular with locals who want to escape the heat of Colombo, so surprise this town is known as “little England” overnight at Nuwara Eliya

About 5am in the morning we leave for Horton plains (breakfast packs will be taken with us)
Horton Plains, the coldest and windiest location in Sri Lanka consists of ecosystems such as Montane evergreen forests, grasslands, marshy lands and aquatic ecosystem. At an altitude of 2,100 meters above sea level, Horton Plains spreads across over 3,169 hectares of the highest tableland of the island. In view of the large number of endemic flora and fauna species, Horton Plains was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 30th July 2010. The escarpment with a depth of 900 meters called World’s End and Baker’s Falls are the highlights of the Horton Plains.

After breakfast we leave for Nanu oya railway station where we have to catch the train to Ella. From there we can do the nice train ride to Ella. Through the journey we can catch the most beautiful sceneries and surroundings in Sri Lanka.
Afternoon we visit to Little Adam’s peak which will give us more nice sceneries and soundings.

After breakfast we leave for Yala on the way we can see rawana waterfall.
Yala is Sri Lanka’s second largest wildlife park and has the largest population of Leopard in Sri Lanka. Yala is famed for its leopard population of 35 and considered to be one of the best places in the world to observe and photograph Leopard.
We proceed to tour of the park after lunch in jeeps what we called YALA SAFARI
Overnight at Yala.
We depart to our final destination after breakfast .Traveling along the coastal road you may notice some of the devastation caused by the tsunami. You will also see how towns and villages are rebuilding and moving on with lives. Near Weligama you will see the stilt fisherman (season based). These fishermen stand patiently on stilts and fish for their daily catch. The stilts themselves are passed from father to son. Traveling onwards we arrive in Galle. Here we visit the Fort complex. This world heritage site 16th century Portuguese fort reached the height of its development in the 18th century. After visiting the fort we travel onwards to arrive at the beach resort for the next three nights.

Also known for bird watching. Visit the fascinating city of Colombo which links the past with the present. This rock fortress was built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century A.D. and was a royal citadel for more than 18 years. In a sheltered pocket, approached by a spiral stairway, are the famous frescoes. The summit of the rock, with an area of nearly one hectare was the site of the palace, the outer wall of which was built on the very brink of the precipice. The UNESCO - sponsored Central Cultural Fund has restored Sigiriya 5th century Water Gardens to their former glory.

After breakfast leave for Polonnaruwa Ancient City, another World Heritage site. Once the Capital of Sri Lanka from 11th – 13th Centuries still contains some splendid and spectacular statues, walkways and palaces among the forestry watched by the wildlife.
Depart to Kandy After lunch en route stopping at the Dambulla cave monasteries. The Dambulla cave monasteries were born when the fleeing King Walagamba took refuge in these caves. Upon regaining the throne he built this monastery in memory of his days there. The 5 caves house 167 Buddha Statues and over 2100 square meters of Buddhist murals. We then proceed to Kandy via Matale which is generally considered the spice capital of Sri Lanka. Traveling onwards we stop at a spice garden in Matale where you can sample the many spices and be treated to an Ayurveda Massage.
Kandy was the last capital of Sri Lanka and was home to the last king of Sri Lanka Sri WickramaRajasingha. The most famous site is the Temple of the Tooth or the DaladaMaligawa.
Evening we visit Cultural show and temple of the tooth relic.
Over night stay In Kandy.
The next day we leave Kandy and proceed towards Nuwara Eliya .The drive to Nuwara Eliya is spectacular with mist covered mountains, lush tea estates and tea plucker.
En route we visit botanic garden in peradeniya and a tea factory and are guided through the process of making tea.
Travel onwards to Nuwara Eliya
You may spend the rest of the day at leisure or walk around and explore the town on your own. Situated at an altitude of 2040m this town with its characteristic British architecture and climate is very popular with locals who want to escape the heat of Colombo, so surprise this town is known as “little England” overnight at Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast we leave for Nanu oya railway station where we have to catch the train to Ella. From there we can do the nice train ride to Ella. Through the journey we can catch the most beautiful sceneries and surroundings in Sri Lanka.

Yala is Sri Lanka’s second largest wildlife park and has the largest population of Leopard in Sri Lanka. Yala is famed for its leopard population of 35 and considered to be one of the best places in the world to observe and photograph Leopard.
Afternoon We depart to our final destination .Traveling along the coastal road you may notice some of the devastation caused by the tsunami. You will also see how towns and villages are rebuilding and moving on with lives. Near Weligama you will see the stilt fisherman (season based). These fishermen stand patiently on stilts and fish for their daily catch. The stilts themselves are passed from father to son. Traveling onwards we arrive in Galle. Here we visit the Fort complex. This world heritage site 16th century Portuguese fort reached the height of its development in the 18th century. After visiting the fort we travel onwards to arrive at the beach resort.

The duty free shop at the transit and departure lounge of the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake has an extensive range in well known brands of liquor, hi-if equipments, wrist watched cameras, films, perfumes cosmetics, electrical appliances, cigarette lighters and souvenirs.

ANURADHAPURA
Anu-radha-pura Kingdom lasted one thousand and five hundred years from 380BC. This city is home to many of the earliest grandest monuments of Sri Lanka. Anuradhapura is a very popular destination of Buddhist pilgrims because of its many ancient Buddhist monuments.
Anuradhapura has been made royal capital by the king Pandukabhaya in 380 BC. It remained residence and royal capital for 119 successive Singhalese kings till the year 1000 AD when it was abandoned and the capital moved to Polonnaruwa. You will see some of the most famous as well as the tallest dagoba of Sri Lanka, remains from palaces, temples, monasteries, ceremonial baths and the temple of the holy Bo-tree. This tree was grown from a sapling of the very tree under which more than 2500 years ago the Buddha found enlightenment.
AWKANA BUDDHA STATUE
The 13 meter high statue carved out of solid granite goes back to the 5th century, to the reign of King Dathusena. (about 50km south of Anuradhapura) On a rainy day, it is said, that one can see droplets of water falling off the tip of the statue's nose hitting the ground exactly between the toes.- a testament to the architectural accuracy of the sculptor.
ISURUMUNIYA TEMPL
Isurumuniya temple was built in the 3rd century B.C. is noted for its rock carvings. The best known among these is the "Isurumuniya Lovers". Many a poet and song writer has taken inspiration from this carving to write their masterpieces. It is believed that the carving may represent Saliya the son of the great king Dutugamunu and the low-caste maiden Asokamala whom he loved.
RUVANWELI SEYA (STUPA)
Ruwanveli Seya is the one of the utmost Popular stupa at Anuradhapura and is the pride of the Great Emperor Dutugamunu. Raised in the 2nd century B.C. this dagoba is supposed to have the perfect water bubble shape. Among the many statues in the courtyard there is one that is of a larger-than-life man. This is considered to be the king himself watching his work from a respectable distance.
MIHINTALE
The temple of Mihintale is built on the rock where Mahindu Theroa, the son of Great Indian Emperor Asoka introduced Buddihism to the king of Sri Lanka Devanam Piya Tissa.
Mahinda's sister Theri Sangamitta carried a off shoot of the the ', the holy Bo tree that gave shelter to Buddha to attain Nibbana. Sri Maha Bodhi' The Bo tree was planted at Anuradhapura, where it still grows as the oldest tree with a recorded history in the world.
ABHYAGIRIYA
Abhayagiri is the largest monastery complex in the Anuradhapura kingdom. Founded in the second century BC by king Valagamba (also known as Vattagamini Abhaya) was an international institution by the first century AD. Covering an area of 200ha the monastery include full components of a Buddhist temple as well as other buildings. The stupa at Abhayagiri is 108m tall and one of the tallest brick buildings of the ancient world.
SMADHI BUDDHA STATUE
The finest Buddha sculpture in Sri Lanka the Samadhi Statue (3- century AD) is among its many fine stone carvings.
JETHAWANARAMAYA
The monastery complex is built where it is believed to be the cremation grounds of the Mahinda Thera who introduced Buddhism to Sri Lanka. Founded by King Mahasena (276-303AD) the stupa at 120m high was the third tallest monument in the world at the time of the fall of Roman Empire.
ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
The Folk Museum has a collection of artifacts illustrative of the rural life of the North Central Province and the near by Archaeological Museum display what is excavated from Abhayagiri temple explorations.
RITIGALA
A beautifully paved footpath, several elevated platforms, ruins of an old hospital and remains of a terraced pond are what is unearthed at this 180 BC Buddhist monastery at the foothill of 600m high Ritigala Rock. Dating back to around 350 B.C is one of the oldest historical places mentioned in the ancient chronicles. (about 50km south east of Anuradhapura)
